Client
Animal health technology company looking to build a veterinary network
A veterinary business was looking to transform and automate the way pet owners, farmers, veterinarians, and animal conservation specialists care for their wildlife. Their idea was to build an e-commerce platform with prescription drugs, supplements, and other products for all animals from mice to crocodiles.
Problem
Even the product MVP involved complex logic and strict regulations
To include prescription drugs, integrate with vet clinics, and account for dozens of animal types, even the project's minimum viable product (MVP) had to be quite complex. The challenge was to deliver it in short 6—12 months for the client to start developing their business.
Solution
E-commerce platform for pets and exotic animals
By growing the project team, we were able to deliver the MVP in time even given the project's substantial scope. The new platform was a comprehensive e-commerce website with features like homepage customization, catalog management, product details, and order tracking. Additionally, the app provided a marketing website setup using WordPress, ensuring easy content management and customer engagement.
The platform offered extensive practice management capabilities, such as employee management, product ordering by veterinarians, and handling of checkout processes in veterinary clinics. It supported personal, company, and animal profile management, enabling detailed record-keeping and tax logic implementation even for owners of hundreds of animals.
The system management module included customer and company profile management, vet clinic verification, and order fulfillment tracking. Finally, the platform integrated with various third-party services like Twilio, Stripe, and Google Places, ensuring a quality user experience across different functionalities.
Challenge #1
Numerous integrations
Integrating the app with diverse tools and services like Twilio, Stripe, and Google Places was an engineering challenge. We implemented a modular architecture for flexible integration.
Challenge #2
Strict veterinary regulations
Our team thoroughly investigated the veterinary domain, learning regulations associated with selling and delivering prescription medicine online.
Challenge #3
Unique industry-specific user flows
The client's user flows were unique and complex. For example, farmers with hundreds of animals needed to store each animal's purchase history and product preferences. Special delivery methods, like cryoboxes for some prescription drugs, had to be arranged.

Key features
Multi-tenancy for prescription management
We integrated with vet clinics through a multi-tenant system, where each clinic had its account in the system to purchase medicine and create prescriptions for their clients.
Diverse product categories
Syberry organized products under dozens of categories with hundreds of filters for easier navigation. This information was stored in the database and managed through the admin panel.
Product customization for users' animals
Users could customize products when purchasing, such as choosing the dose and flavor. The system suggested options based on previous orders.
